Empowering Adolescents: Superstition Eradication Committee Guides Future Youth with Sexuality Awareness Campaign At TVM School

TVM, Boisar 24 July: In a commendable initiative that bridges the gap between adolescence and essential knowledge, the Superstition Eradication Committee organized a ‘Sexuality Awareness Campaign’ at Tarapur Vidya Mandir & Junior College. The event aimed to address the often-ignored yet critically important subject of sexual education among students, equipping them with the right information to understand their own emotional and physical growth.

The program was introduced by Mr. Anil Shobhana Vasant, who emphasized the pressing need to educate adolescents about the natural changes they undergo during puberty. He highlighted how crucial it is for today’s youth to understand their own bodies, emotions, and boundaries in a scientific and respectful manner—something traditionally overlooked in family or school settings due to social taboos.

Mr. Aappa Lokhande, District Head of SEC, shared insights into the ongoing work of the Superstition Eradication Committee in the region. He reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to awareness and education, assuring the students and faculty that more such enlightening programs would be brought to the school in the future. He was accompanied by Mr. Anil Jadhav, the Committee’s Chief Secretary, who added weight to the importance of such grassroots educational efforts.

A unique and impactful feature of the campaign was the screening of two short films tailored for the students—‘Ladka Sayana Huva’ for boys and ‘Ladki Sayani Huyi’ for girls. These films offered scientific and age-appropriate information about puberty, attraction, bodily changes such as the growth of facial and genital hair, personal hygiene, and the importance of mutual respect between genders. The content filled a crucial gap, addressing questions and curiosities that many parents and educators hesitate to discuss openly.

The program was coordinated by Mr. Pankaj, whose efforts ensured smooth execution and active participation from the students. As the session concluded, Mrs. Sapna delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the Superstition Eradication Committee for their time, dedication, and forward-thinking approach. Mrs. Joan Rosario, Principal commended the initiative for empowering the youth with knowledge that fosters responsibility, self-awareness, and respect in interpersonal relationships.

The Superstition Eradication Committee’s initiative is not just about awareness—it’s about creating a generation that is informed, confident, and compassionate.

Such efforts are not only laudable but essential in today’s rapidly changing social environment. As more institutions follow this model, we can look forward to a more open, healthy, and stigma-free society for our youth
